NOOOOO!
I looked over to the left, and a full-size burgundy SUV was running a stop sign. Honestly, it felt like a movie; you know the one that the camera pans and all you see is a grill coming at you in slow motion, only this time it was not the movies it was about to hit me. I heard the crunch and breaking glass.
I was confused; I did not know where I was, the air bags deployed and blocked my view, it felt as if I was in a tent the fact that they were air bags did not register. Once it occurred to me that an accident had happened, voices could be heard asking if I were alright. I remember asking “Am I bleeding?”
The car had me trapped, and it took me a bit to figure how to escape in my muddled state of mind, my door and column caved in, I was pushed up against a parked car on the other side.
It turns out that I was in one of the most dangerous sections of St. Louis (I was taking photos of cool buildings). About 10 or 15 people from the neighborhood had come out to help me. It is true that in these kinds of area’s it seems no one sees a thing, however, they all waited with me until the police came and made sure I was okay.
Why is this a “New Beginning?” You see I had a traumatic brain injury in February 2015 that affected my memory. Lights, sound and pretty much any stimulation caused my brain to hurt. I sat in the dark in my house for about a month.
Not using my PC or watching TV very much. During this period I developed a stutter and had trouble with word search. You know, when you know the word, it is at the tip of your tongue but you just can’t remember it. My family just said you are getting old. Haha!
I had a blog called GregDiVilbiss.com where I shared my thoughts on a variety of subjects; I had a year worth of motivational type daily posts. Unfortunately, my domain came up for renewal, and I did not access my account to know that this was happening.
The grace period passed to reactivate my domain, and a cyber-squatter took my URL (Someone who holds a domain for ransom). They want $2,500.00 to get my name back. I was hoping once I did not buy it they would release it and I could pick it back up in an auction after all who would want Greg DiVilbiss as a website?
So the new beginning is this, I purchased my real name GregoryDiVilbiss.com and am starting over with my blog. My hopes are to share those things that interest me which in no particular order are live music, food, Facebook advertising, sales, commercial real estate, motivation and personal empowerment, dance, the KC Chiefs and social media marketing.
So, today is the day that the new blog goes live, I hope you find it interesting. I am in the process of building my agency website http://www.accendomarketing.com where I talk about service I offer like SEO or Facebook Advertising. I continue to manage Commercial Real Estate and do some development and leasing.
Today is a new beginning.
